Anyone know what might be breaking it? Bone meal doesn't work on it either. It's in the middle of nothing else at all, a completely open space, yet it won't grow. Even when there is nothing above them that could block growth they still do not grow I'm trying to grow this stupid dark oak sapling. Turning the tick speed up does not make them grow and only certain spots in the world. Reproducible with ease, simply use any dark oak saplings as would normally be intended they will never grow When placing down the 2x2 dark oak sapling clusters they will not grow in most places.
Have also tested 1x1 (alongside the normal 2x2) setup of dark oak sapling in case of unannounced change to dark oak mechanics, with no success. Saplings will not grow, even with enhanced tickrate gamerule or with copious amounts of bone meal. In this image, the saplings on the left will eventually grow to form one dark oak tree. I've used A LOT of bone meal on them (as much as 20 per sapling on several of them) and still nothing! Hitting F3 and pointing at them indicates that all the saplings are stuck at stage 1 A single dark oak sapling will not grow on its own, regardless of how long you wait or how much bone meal you use on it. Currently I've got 9 dark oak saplings planted and have waited several real time days, weeks in Minecraft time and they have yet to grow.
